The stunning Panza Verde is an elegant American-owned guesthouse with four rooms and eight suites. It's decked out with sumptuous furniture and fittings, some pieces ever so fashionably tatty due to being semi-outdoors. Upstairs there is an art gallery, reached by a staircase with a beautiful iron balustrade. The atmosphere and restaurant here are among the most appealing in Antigua.".

This elegant and artistic Antigua hotel is actually listed in the "moderate" price category in this book, thanks to the inclusion of several excellent midrange rooms. However, the large suites and superb service easily make this one of Guatemala's top luxury options. The old building is loaded with artwork and interesting architectural details, and there's a wonderful, mazelike rooftop terrace with panoramic views. Don't come to Antigua without having a meal at Meson Panza Verde."

This hotel houses my favorite restaurant in Antigua. The ambience is fabulous, the service professional and attentive, and the food superb. Try the sea bass with fresh grapes in a white-wine cream sauce, or the Geschnetzeltes Zurich -- pork tenderloin in a cognac and demi-glace sauce. Tables are spread around several open-air terraces, assorted rooms, and nooks; my favorite seats are poolside under a vaulted stone roof. Enjoy live jazz Wednesday through Friday nights, and Sunday during brunch. This place has an extensive and reasonably priced wine list, as well as some good top-shelf cognacs, tequilas, rums, and single-malt whiskeys."

"Panza Verde is a boutique hotel in a typical colonial-style building. What sets it apart from most places is the amazing restaurant that is probably one of the most creative in town with their unique option for couples. Here you can make a reservation for a private, romantic dinner in a dome that they have on their terrace. They decorate the staircase and dome for you with roses, candles and other fun stuff, but not cheesy! And you get your own waiter that is there at your beck and call. Even though it’s a hotel and there are rooms around the dome, no one uses the staircase it’s closest to, so it’s as though the entire terrace is all for your own private party. Plus, the views are absolutely insane of two volcanoes – one of which spits out smoke all the time.."

This hotel is simply stunning. We stayed in a double room off the main courtyard. Breakfast is included in the price and is very good. The staff are all helpful and friendly and the hotel has a wonderful calm atmosphere. Just take a look at their website to see some great photos. Definitely a super place to stay for a treat."
